Our annual conference

The IWSG Annual Conference is one of the highlights of the year for anyone interested in waders, shorebird science and conservation. In a different European country each year, the conference usually spans a weekend in September or October. We pride ourselves in running friendly conferences attended by ringers, students, amateur wader enthusiasts and conservationist biologists. Each conference includes 2 days of lectures, poster sessions, local excursions, plus one or more workshops on special themes. Recent workshops have included: lowland wader trends, conservation status of the Numeniini, oystercatcher species around the world. Of course, there’s also plenty of time to meet friends old and new.

Listed below are details of our upcoming conference and an archive of our previous conferences back to 1996. Details of conferences during 1975–1995 can be found here.
